Abstract
Purpose To study the expression of caveolin-1 and MMP-2 in hreast cancer and their relationship. Methods The expression of caveolin-1 and MMP-2 in 86 cases of breast cancer tissues and 20 normal tissues was examined by immunohistochemical staining. Results The positive rate of caveolin-1 was significantly lower in breast cancer than that of normal breast tissue ( 52. 3％ vs95.0％ ，P ＜ 0. 05 )， whereas the positive rate of MMP-2 was significantly higher in breast cancer than that of normal breast tissue ( 73. 2％ vs 15. 0％ ，P＜ 0. 05 ). Caveolin-1 expression was decreased in hreast cancer with lymph node metastasis and advanced clinical stage ( P ＜ 0. 05 ) . but not with age , histological grade, tumor size ( P ＞ 0. 05 ). MMP-2 expression was increased in breast cancer with lymph node metastasis, higher histological grade and advanced clinical stage ( P＜ 0. 05 ) . but not with patient age and tumor size ( P ＞ 0. 05 ). The positive rates between caveolin-1 and MMP-2 were negatively correlated in breast cancer( r = - 0. 472. P ＜ 0. 01 ).Conclusion The decreased expression of caveolin-1 and over-expression of MMP-2 might be important biological markers for malignant transformation， invasion and metastasis of breast cancer. The comhined detection of caveolin-1 and MMP-2 has positive effects on predicting the invasion and metastasis in the patients.关键词
