Abstract
Purpose To detect the expression of mTOR. eIF4E in endometrial endometrioid adenocarcinoma and endometrial intraepithelial neoplasia ( EIN ) and to explore the role of mTOR and eIF4E in the endometrial endometrioid carcinogenesis. Methods The expression of mTOR and eIF4E protein was detected in 17 cases of proliferative endometrium, 64 proliferative lesions and 44 endometrioid adenocarcinomas with immnohistochemical staining. Results No case of mTOR strong staining was found in proliferative endometrium and simple endometrial hyperplasia cases. In complex hyperplasia and endometrioid adenocarcinoma cases, the strong expression rates of mTOR were 23. 40% and 52. 27% , respectively, which was significantly higher than that in other groups ( P < 0. 05 ). The strong expression rates of mTOR in endometrioid adenocarcinoma was significantly higher than that in complex hyperplasia and complex hyperplasia with atypical hyperplasia ( P < 0. 05 ). The strong expression of mTOR was closely related with differentiation of tumor in endometrioid adenocarcinoma. The strong positive expression rate in grades Ⅱ andⅢ cases was significantly higher than that in grade Ⅰ ( 72. 41% vs 13. 33% , P < 0. 05 ). No significant correlation was found between the expression of mTOR ancl TNM stage and lymph node metastasis in endometriod adenocarcinoma ( P > 0. 05 ). The positive expression rates of eIF4E in proliferative endometrium, simple endometrial hyperplasia, complex hyperplasia and endometrioid adenocarcinoma were 52. 94% ,73. 68% ,85. 11% and 90. 91%,respectively. The rates of eIF4E in complex hyperplasia and endometrioid adenocarcmoma were significantly higher than that in the other groups ( P < 0. 05 ), but no significant difference was found between complex hyperplasia and endometrioid adenocarcinoma( P >0. 05 ). No association was found between the expression of eIF4E and TNM stage, pathological grade as well as lymph node metastasis ( P>0. 05 ). Conclusions The up-regulation expression of mTOR and eIF4E may be involved in the carcinogenesis of endometriod adenocarcinoma.关键词
