Abstract

(Y1-xLax)2O3 (x = 0~0.125) transparent ceramics were fabricated by the conventional ceramics processing. The microstructure,hardness, light transmittance and thermal conductivity of the ceramics was investigated. The results show that La2O3 can effectively promote sintering, and inhibit excessive grain growth. After La2O3 doping, the hardness of the transparent ceramics increases from 786 MPa to 878 MPa, but the thermal conductivity decreases significantly from 16.92 W/(m·K) to 5.68 W/(m·K). The (Y0.90La0.10)2O3 transparent ceramics has excellent optical property, the transmission range is 300-8 500 nm, and the maximum transmittance is greater than 80%.
