摘要

Abstract

Objective To analyze the expression of cathepsin D in gliomas and its clinical meaning with high-throughput tissue microarray/ tissue chip. Methods The expression of cathepsin D in the paraffin samples of 300 patients with gliomas were examined by using immunohistochemistry on tissue chip. Results In the astrocytoma specimens, the positive expression of cathepsin D is significantly different between pathological grade Ⅰ - Ⅱ ( positive ratio56. 84% ) and Ⅲ -Ⅳ positive rati0 81. 89% ) . as well as the positive intensity. Positive ratio & positive intensity are both significantly different between high grade astrocytomas ( grade Ⅲ -Ⅳ ) and normal tissue ( positive ratio 31. 5% ) . In the ependymocytoma specimens, the positive expression of cathepsin D is not significantly different between pathological grade Ⅱ and Ⅱ .but was significantly difference between tuomr and normal tissue. In the oligodendroglioma specimens , the positive expression of cathepsin D is significantly different between pathological grade Ⅱ ( positive rati9.66. 66% ) and Ⅲ ( positive ratio 86. 95) .as well as the positive intensity. Positive ratio & positive intensity are both significantly different between oligodendrogliomas tumor tissue and that of normal( positive ratio 31. 5% ) ( P <0. 05) . Conclusions The expression of cathepsin D was positively correlated with the pathological grade of astrocytomas and oligodendrogliomas. These results suggest that cathepsin D could be a potential molecular marker for high grade astrocytomas and oligodendrogliomas.
