摘要

Abstract

Objective To explore the role of glycyrrhizin in the treatment of pulmonary fibrosis in rats and the effect of this agent on serum IL4/IFN-γ level. Methods 40 rats were randomly divided into control group ,model group,glycyrrhizin group,and dexamethison group.28 days after the establishment of the rat model of pulmonary fibrosis by intratracheal injections of bleomycin,the rats in the two treatment groups received intraperitoneal injections of glycyrrhizin or dexamethison , and then were sacrificed on day 43. Pathological changes in the lungs were measured by HE staining. The hydroxyproline content in lung tissue homogenate and serum levels of IL4 and IFN-γ were detected. Results As compared with the model group , the degree of pulmonary fihrosis and the hydroxyproline content decreased in glycyrrhizin group. Serum IL4 level was lower in glycyrrhizin group than in the model group, whereas IFN-γ level was higher; similar to those in dexamethison group. Conclusions Glycyrrhizin can alleviate the degree of pulmonary fibrosis induced hy bleomycin in rats , whose machanism may be associated with a change in levels of IL4 and IFN-γ.
