Abstract
Objective To understand the current status of birth defects in Pudong New District during 2008 - 2009 ,to provide evidences for preconceptional - periconceptional care in communities. Methods According to " The Birth Defects Monitoring Program of China" , monitoring data of hospitalized pregnant women and perineal infants were analyzed in Shanghai Pudong New District from 2008 t0 2009. Results A total of 43 485 perineal infants were born in Pudong New District from 2008 to 2009. Birth defects occurred in 260 males, 225 females, 1 with ambiguous gender, and birth defect rate was 11. 18％. A total of 28 268 pregnant women had not local census register, accounting for 65. 01％ . and their birth defect rate was 59. 67％ .The top 5 diseases of hirth defects were synpolydactyly, deformity of external ear, congenital cardiovascular diseases, chilopalatognathus, genital malformation. There was significant difference in birth defect rate between couples at different ages, with different occupations, or different census registers ( P ＜ 0. 05 ). Conclusion Primary prevention of birth defects in communities should be paid attention to , to provide preconceptional - periconceptional care and basic reproductive health services.关键词
