Expression of vascular endothelial growth factor-C in squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue with different pattern of invasion
摘要
Abstract
Objective To study the vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF)-C expression in squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue with different pattern of invasion. Methods 39 cases with squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue were classified into four groups according to the pattern of invasion described by Anneroth and VEGFC expression was detected respectively by using immunohistochemical staining. Results The expression of VEGFC in tumor cells varied from the pattern of invasion. The expression in squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue with pattern Ⅲ and Ⅳ of invasion had a high lever than that of pattern Ⅰ and Ⅱ. The clinical findings showed that the rate of lymph node metastasis was easily involved in pattern Ⅲ and Ⅳ of invasion. Conclusion VEGFC is correlated with pattern of invasion and it may play an important role in invasion and regional lymph node metastasis in squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue.关键词
