Expression of HIF-1α, MMP-2 in endometrial carcinoma and its clinical significance

Abstract
Objective To investigate the expression of hypoxia inducible factor-1alpha (HIF-1α)and of matrix metalloproteinase ( MMP)-2 in endometrial carcinoma and their clinical significance. Methods The expression of HIF-1α and MMP-2 proteins were examined in 52 patients with endometrial adenocarcinoma, 23 patients with atypia hyperplasia and 18 patients with normal endometrial between August of 2006 and September of 2009 in the Shengjing Hospital of China Medical University by using immunohistochemical methods of S-P. Results The ratio of HIF-1α and MMP-2 expressions in endometrial carcinoma (73.08％, 71.15％ ) were obviously higher than that in normal endometrium (22. 22％,16. 67％ ) and atypical endometrial hyperplasia( 39. 13％ ,34. 78％ ), and there were a significant difference ( P ＜ 0. 05 ).The expression of HIF-1α and MMP-2 in endometrial adenocarcinoma tissues was increased with advanced clinical stages and pathological grades, both in endometrial cancer with lymph node metastasis group was higher than that without lymph node metastasis, the difference was statistically significant( P ＜ 0. 05 ). The expression of HIF-1 α and MMP-2 was positively correlated (rs = 0. 543 ,P ＜0. 01 ). Conclusion The expression of HIF-1α and MMP-2 are increasing from normal endometrium, endometrial hyperplasia through endometrial carcinoma. In total, the results clue on the important role of HIF-1α and MMP-2 in the development of endometrial carcinoma. Additional they are treated as endometrial carcinoma potential invasive tumor markers.关键词
