摘要

Abstract

Effects of different nitrogen forms and their supply position on maize growth were studied under partial rootzone water stress. Maize seedlings were grown in a split-root system with two root compartments. Polyethylene glycol (PEG6000) was ppli to just one root compartment simulating partial root-zone water stress. Nitrogen (nitrate nitrogen,ammonium nitrogen, or mixed nitrogen of ammonium and nitrate at the ratio of 1: 1 ) was applied to the water-stressed or non-water-stressed compartment only. Chlorophyll fluorescence parameters, morphological characteristics of stem, leaves and roots were deter mined at the 16th day after treated with water stress. Results showed that, compared to nitrogen supplied to the water-stressed compartment, plants grew better when nitrogen was supplied to the non-water-stressed compartment, which was reflected by their high light energy usage and light conversion efficiency (Yield, ETR, qP,ETRm), and the increasing of minimum saturating irradiance (Ik). Plant growth was greatly retarded when nitrogen was supplied to the water-stressed compartment. Plants exposed to mixed nitrogen grew better compared to other nitrogen sources when nitrogen was supplied to the same position, with relative high values of Yield, ETR, qP, ETRm and Ik.When nitrogen was applied to the non-water-stressed compartment, the maximal photochemical efficiency (Fv/Fm) and potential activities (Fv/Fo) of photosystem Ⅱ (PSⅡ) decreased with the tendency of mixed nitrogen source, nitrate nitrogen, ammonium nitrogen.
