Abstract
Objective To evaluate the clinical efficacy and safety of alpha hydroxy acid and benzoyl peroxide gels in the treatment of medium degree acne vulgaris. Methods A randomized controlled clinical study was performed by 61 patients with medium degree acne vulgaris. The test group was treated with a series of alpha hydroxy acid peelings with different concentrations every two weeks at least 6 sessions, which were treated with benzoyl peroxide gel used on the surface of the skin twice per day for 12 weeks. The number of comedo, papules, pustules and sebum excretion were counted and recorded in the end of every four weeks. Results There was significant difference between the two groups.After 12-week-treatment, the total effective rates were 86.7％ in alpha hydroxy acid group, and 56.7％ in the control group (P＜ 0.05). There were 2 patients with the local adverse reactions in the alpha hydroxy acid group and 5 patients with side reactions in the control group. Conclusion alpha hydroxy acid is an effective and safety method for medium degree acne vulgaris.关键词
