Abstract

[ Objective ] The research aimed to study the effects of chito-oligosaccharide on maize seed germination and seedlings growth.[ Methods] Treating maize seed and seedling with different consistency of chito-oligosaccharide, the effect of chito-oligosaccharide on maize seed germination and seedlings growth was studied. [ Results] The results showed that chito-oligosaccharide could improve the amylase activity of maize seed, increase the growth-rate of root and bud, stimulate the seed germination. And at the time, it could improve the chlorophyll of the plants and the root activity, and accelerate the rate of maize seedlings growth. Comparatively. the chito-oligosaccharide in concentrations of 0.1 μg/ml made the most obvious promotion effect. [ Conclusion] Chito-oligosaccharide can make a promotion effect on maize seed germination and seedlings growth. The study can provide theoretical support for the applying of chito-oligosaccharide.
