Abstract

Mesoporous MCM-41 molecular sieves modified by vanadium (V-MCM-41) were synthesized by hydrothermal method using inorganic silica sources (Na2SiO3'9H2O, colloidal silica and Na2O'3.3SiO2) and organic silica source (tetraethyl orthosilicate,TEOS), respectively, and CH3(CH2)15'(CH3)3NBr(CATB) as template. The influences of different silica sources in different pH values conduction on the specific surface area, total pore volume and average pore diameter of the V-MCM-41 molecular sieves were investigated. The results indicate that the synthesis processes are different with different silica sources and pH value. The V-MCM-41 molecular sieve materials can be prepared by inorganic silica sources in alkali condition (pH≈9.5-11.5) propitiously, and by organic silica (TEOS) not only in acid (pH≈5.5) but also in alkali condition (pH≈l0.5). The specific surface area SBET and total pore volume Vp of the V-MCM-41 molecular sieves prepared by inorganic silica source are 1 000m2/g and 1.0mL/g, respectively, and it is larger than that prepared by organic silica (SBET≈800 m2/g, Vp≈0.8 mL/g). No obvious difference of the pore diameter size is observed. It is due to the different speed of hydrolyzation and polymerization of different silica sources, which result in different polymer form. The different polymer may make a difference with the reciprocity between the surfactants and silica source.
