Abstract
Due to the nature of the peers' self-organization,it is a common sense that P2P doesn't require server placement strategies.However, the results of recent study show that it is a solution to deal with the new challenges, such as too much cross-networks traffic by deploying servers in properlocation.So it is time to answer the question that whether P2P needs server placement strategy.This paper tried to deal with this prime problem.Firstly, it analyzed the service performance for different server placement strategies with a simple example.Then studied the performance of three typical server placement strategies.The results show that:P2P systems need appropriate server placement strategies;these three strategies do not yield the desirable quality of service for P2P systems and it is necessary to develop a suitable placement strategy.Finally, proposed a server placement model which could overcome the shortcoming of these traditional models and was more suitable for P2P systems.关键词
