摘要

Abstract

Crack propagation behavior is a fundamental issue of fatigue properties for steel structures. A new method-beach marking method is introduced for the detection of fatigue crack propagation in steel structures.Basic principles of beach marking method are described, and an example for the application of this method is given to stress the main factors for successful use with an experimental case. Beach marking method is applied to record crack propagation indirectly by applying proper designed fatigue load spectrum to the specimen so as to produce certain fatigue curves on the fracture surface, which is proved to be an effective method for the measurement of fatigue crack propagation of steel structures.
