摘要

Abstract

To improve the bitstream' s robustness during transmission, an error-resilient video transcoding scheme was proposed, which adaptively inserts redundant slice for the region-of-interkst (ROI) protection. An ROI extraction method was first presented based on both skin color and motion information. To avoid the unnecessary bit consumption, the insertion of redundant slice was determined by the rate-distortion performance of the ROI parts. The redundant slice was produced by the entropy coding and inserted into the bit stream if necessary, which doesn't involve the second-round encoding. Extensive experiments prove that the re-decoded video's subjective quality can be improved noticeably by the proposed scheme when transmitted with packet losses, which achieves good rate-distortion performance. Additionally, the proposed scheme was of low complexity, and the space need of picture storage was relatively small.
