Numerical analysis of the thermo-electric transient process during DP600 dual-phase steel resistance spot welding

Abstract
Both the prepressing contact and thermo-electric transient processes of the resistance spot welding of DP600 dual-phase steel under alternative current(AC) load were analyzed by ANSYS software. The electric field laws and the fusion zone formation process were discovered through numerical simulation. And the accuracy of the simulation results was verified through experimental methods.The results show that, the area of the initial conductive region was apparently bigger than that of the electrode tip, the current density and the voltage distribution on the contact surface change sinusoidal with time, and both the peak values happen at the edge of the electrodes. The fusion zone grows radically with some fluctuation, and it grows faster radically than axially. Thirdly, while the former was much bigger than the latter under too big welding current.关键词
