Ultramicrostructure and stereology of mitochondria in serous and mucinous cystadenocarcinoma
摘要
Abstract
Objective To observe the change of mitochondria ultramicrostructure of mucinous cystadenocarcinoma (MC) and serous cystadenocarcinoma (SC), to determine the stereological characteristic of the mitochondria of ovarian carcinoma cells. Methods The ultramicrostructure change of mitochondrion was observed with EM and the interrelation among volume density ( Vvm ), surface density ( Sv, μm-1 ) and membrane surface density ( Rsv,μm-1 ) of mitochondria of the cells in ovarian carcinoma were studied and compared with the normal control.Results Electronmicroscope reveals mitochondria swelling and cristae disorganizing in ovarian carcinoma. The Vvm and Sv of mitochondria of the MC cells were dicreased markedly (0. 07 ± 0. 06 and 0. 06 ± 0. 04, P ＜ 0. 05 ),while its Rsv of mituchondria mitochondria increased obviously (0. 89 ± 0. 04, P ＜ 0. 05 ) 。 The Vvm and Sv of mitochondria of the SC cells were markedly increased(0. 27 ±0. 12 and 0. 12 ±0. 06, P ＜0. 01 ), while the its Rsv of mitochondria was obviously declined (0. 58 ± 0. 49, P ＜ 0. 05 ). Conclusion There are significant changes in the mitochondria of two types ovarian carcinoma. The number of mitochondria in former type decreased, while the latter increased.关键词
