摘要

Abstract

Wind tunnel tests were employed to study wind -induced interference effects on three adjacent cooling towers under upside - down triangular distribution. The technique of adding roughness on model surface was applied to compensate for the Reynolds number effect due to model tests. Then the POD method was used to interpolate the wind pressures on the towers. After that, drag coefficients, lift coefficients and base shear coefficients on the isolated tower and three adjacent towers were calculated. Based on these coefficients, interference factors with respect to tower -to - tower distances and wind azimuths were analyzed. Results from this study show that the interference factors of both the mean and maximum base shear in along- wind direction under three towers condition are mostly less than 1. This indicates that the three towers arranged in upside - down triangle generally form a blockage against the passing of the wind, resulting in a reduction of total resistance on the latter tower. Most of the interference factors of maximum base shear in crosswind direction is larger than 1 with the biggest value close to 2,indicating that the fluctuating effects in crosswind direction under three towers condition are significant.
