Abstract
Objective： To monitor the serum paraoxonase-1 (PON1) activity in patients with unstable angina during standard therapy for evaluation of the influence and implication of standard therapy on serum PON1 activity.Methods： Eighty patients with unstable angina were enrolled, while 50 healthy subjects enrolled as healthy controls.The serum PON1 activity was tested at baseline and on 1st, 5th, 10th and 15th day.Results; Baseline PON1 activity in patients with unstable angina was significantly lower than that in controls [( 87 ± 3 ) μmol/ ( min · ml) vs (105 ±8) μmol/ (min · ml) , P ＜0.05], while no significant difference was observed on 1st and 5th day.Beneficial effect of standard therapy on PON1 activity was revealed on 10th and 15th day, with a weak but significant elevation [1st day: (87 ±3) μmol/ (min · ml) ; 10th day: (92 ±5) μmol/ (min · ml); 15th day: (95±7) μmol/ (min·ml), P＜ 0.05].Conclusion; The PON1 activity increases after standard therapy in patients with unstable angina, which may be responsible for its anti-athero effect.关键词
