Abstract
Objective: To investigate the expression and significance of Foxp3 in Graves disease( GD) patients. Methods: The level of Foxp3 in peripheral blood mononuclear cells from the GD patients was evaluated by flow cytometry with surface and intracellular double staining in vitro,and the levels of serum thyroid hormone and TRAb were measured by electro-chemiluminescence immunoassay(ECLIA) .Results:Compared with that of the normal control group,the levels of Foxp3 in untreated GD patients were significantly lower( P ＜0.01).A significant negative correlation( P ＜ 0.01 ) between Foxp3 levels and thyroid hormone levels was found in this group of patients. Following treatment, Foxp3 levels were significantly higher than that before treatment( P ＜ 0.05), but lower than that in the normal controls( P ＜ 0.05). Conclusion:The expression of Foxp3 is abnormal in GD. Foxp3 may play a potential role in the progression of GD onset,and the interaction of Foxp3 with high levels of thyroid hormone levels might be implicated in the immunopathology of GD.关键词
