Abstract
Sea clutter is a common problem in maritime radar processing that severely dcgrades system performance. Compared with conventional Rayleigh model, the compound-Gaussian distribution model can precisely describe the statistical properties of sea clutter. To explore the theoretical performance of the noncoherent radar in such clutter environment, the probability density function(PDF) of detection factor and the analytical expressions of the false alarm probability(FAP) are derived. Here a moment generating function (MGF) based approximation method is used. The analysis results show that the derived theoretical expressions of the PDF and FAP match the Monte Carlo simulations quite well, and the approximation method is a very convenient method to analyze the radar performance in compound-Gaussian sea clutter environment.关键词
