Effect of Eye Acupuncture on the Tumor Necrosis Factor Contents of Brain Tissue and Blood in Rats with Focal Cerebral Ischemia and Reperfusion Injury

Abstract
Objective To explore a possible mechanism for eye acupuncture treatment of ischemic cerebrovascular disease.Methods Rats were randomly allocated to sham operation, model and eye acupuncture groups. A rat model of focal cerebral ischemia and reperfusion injury was made by the modified MCA thread-occlusion method. Ear points Shangjiao, Xiajiao, liver and kidney were selected for acupuncture. Rat brain and blood TNF-α contents were measured by ELISA. Results There was a statistically significant difference between the eye acupuncture and model groups (P＜0.01). Conclusion Eye acupuncture can decrease the TNF-α contents of cerebral ischemic penumbra zone and blood. This may be one of the mechanisms of eye acupuncture treatment for ischemic cerebrovascular disease.关键词
