Effects of Collagen Peptides on Antioxidant Capacity and Serum Lipid Metabolism of Mice Fed with High-fat Diet

Abstract
The effects of collagen peptides on antioxidant capacity and serum lipid metabolism of mice fed with high-fat diet were studied in the present work.Forty mice were randomly divided into 5 groups.They were fed with ordinary diet,high-fat diet,and high-fat diet with 0.5% collagen peptides,1% collagen peptides,and 0.1% lipoic acid,respectively.The level of reactive oxygen species (ROS) ,contents of malondialdehyde (MDA) and antioxidant enzymes activities in blood (serum) and tissues and serum lipid level were determined after 42 days.The results showed that both 0.5% and 1% collagen peptides could remarkably decrease the levels of ROS and the contents of MDA, enhance the antioxidant capacity of mice,as well as improve the level of serum lipid.The antioxidant capacity and serum lipid level could recover to normal level when 1% collagen peptides was added to high-fat diet.However, there were no significant effects in 0.5% collagen peptides group.These results indicated that the appropriate collagen peptides could effectively enhance antioxidant capacity, relieve oxidative stress caused by high-fat diet and improve serum lipid metabolism.关键词
