Abstract

Objective: To evaluate Bax, Bcl-2 expression changes in brain injury after hind limbs ischemia-reperfusion (LIR) in rats, and the effect of ginsenoside Rg1 on the model of brain injury following LIR.Methods: The LIR model was established in rats.The histopathological changes were determined by Nissl staining, apoptotic cells were detected with TUNEL, the expression of associated protein, such as Bax, Bcl-2 was determined by immunohistochemistry and Western blot, and the effect of ginsenoside Rg1 was also expressed.Results: The contents of MDA following LIR increased significantly.The expression of Bax and Bcl-2 following LIR was higher than that in the control group.The expression of Bax gene was quite obvious in the red nucleus region of midbrain, 10.0 mg/kg ginsenoside Rg1 after 4 h ischemia obviously inhibited the expression of Bax.Conclusion: The excessive apoptosis and apoptosis-associated factors play a role in brain injury following LIR in rats.Ginsenoside Rgl may adjust the expressions of Bcl-2 and Bax, and thus decrease the occurrence of apoptosis.
