Abstract
It was well described a 3D finite element analysis of single shot impact on a metallic component using the commercial finite element code ABAQUS. In order to provide some validation for the accuracy of the present simulation, the model was first compared with a published numerical study of Meguid et al. which were obtained using ANASYS computer program. Following the numerical validation, this paper investigated systematically the effects of shot parameters on the residual stress pattern. The results of the simulation show that, although the effects of shot parameters on the residual stress pattern are totally different, the maximum sub-surface residual stress always occurs at a deformed depth equivalent to 25 % of the shot diameter. According to the results of the simulation, it is very useful for optimizing these parameters which need to be controlled and regulated in order to produce a more beneficial compressive residual stress distribution within the component.关键词
