"相空间"方法判断西北太平洋热带气旋变性适用性研究
A STUDY ON THE CRITERION OF EXTRATROPICAL TRANSITION OF WESTERN NORTH PACIFIC TROPICAL CYCLONES

Abstract
A phase-space method used to determine extratropical transition is introduced in this study. This method includes three parameters: storm-motion-relative thickness asymmetries, lower- and upper-level thermal wind. The typhoons in the western North Pacific during 2000 to 2007 are statistically analyzed by using this method to examine its feasibility. The results show that although this method can play a role in determining the extratropical transition in the western North Pacific, many improvements in its operational applications are needed.关键词
