A survey and analysis of the impacts of land fragmentation on crops production and farmers' income in arid oasis regions——A case from Minle County of Gansu Province

Abstract
Land fragmentation is considered as one of the key factors to affect crops production and farmers'income. In this paper, on the basis of land fragmentation, the authors take a case of inland arid oasis regions, apply the surveyed data of 2008 and 2010 in Minle County of Gansu Province, use production function model to make a detailed analysis of the effect of different land use types on crop production and farmers' income. The results show that, land fragmentation has double effects in inland arid oasis regions. On one hand, land fragmentation, to some extent, has a positive effect on crop production and farmers' income, while on the other hand, it has a negative influence on the scale economy. On the basis of that, several measures are put forward for eliminating the negative influence of the land fragmentation.关键词
