Dendrite Growth in the Microstructure of Cu-Fe Alloys

Abstract
;The rich-Fe dendrite growth in the microstructure of the Cu-Fe peritectic alloys containing 20, 30 and 40% Fe is studied in the article. The results show: The dendrite distribution in the microstructure is effected by the heat-transfer capability of supercooled melts. When the heattransfer capability is high, The dendrite distribution and the size of dendrite will be uniform.Whereas, the dendrite distribution and the size of dendrite will be uneven. To the dilute alloys, the randomness of the dendrite distribution in the microstructure has some connection with the nondeterminacy of composition fluctuations. The crystal nucleus of dendrite is easily bring up in the zone of composition fluctuations in supercooled melts. As increasing of Fe solute, the ratio of rich-Fe dendrite on unit area, the level of the bifurcation of dendrite, the length and density of the dendrite bifurcation are all increased distinctly, but the diameter of the dendrite bifurcation is increased a little. The solute enrichment mainly effects the sidewise growth of dendrute rather than the top gorwth of dendrite.关键词
