How Coolidge and Langmuir Improved Incandescent Lamps and the Enlightenment They Left to Us
摘要
Abstract
The brief biographies of William David Coolidge and Irving Langmuir are outlined.How Coolidge researched the characteristic of tungsten and technological process of ductile tungsten filament are recounted.How Langmuir researched the effects of various gases (particularly of hydrogen) in the bulb and invented the gas-filled lamp is reviewed.The success road of their exploring natural laws through the experiments, resolving the difficult problems by reversing mold of thinking and broadening the research scope is discussed.关键词
