Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effectiveness of essential drugs polic:y to reduce the economical burden of rural residents involved in the new rural cooperative medical scheme in Fangshan district.Methods Residents aged over 40 received free drugs for hypertension, diabetes, coronary heart disease and stroke from local community health service agencies.Direct cost of drugs, medical examinations and out - patient fees were all evaluated.Besides, reduced in - patient fees and traffic expenditures were also calculated.Results From 2008 t0 2010.18 kinds of essential drugs were handed out free of charge in Fangshan district , saving 17.9211 million yuan in total.Besides, 1.5733 million yuan was saved from primary screening of chronic diseases; 3.1091 million yuan was saved from registration, diagnosis and treatment; 1.56 million yuan was saved from hospitalization due to four kinds of chronic diseases; 2.4873 million yuan was saved from transportation for drugs.Conclusion The essential drugs policy reduces the economical burden of rural residents effectively in different aspects and it would be an important strategy for the control of chronic diseases.关键词
