Clinical Effects of Shenqifuzheng Injection Combined with Three-Dimensional Conformal Radiationtherapy and Concurrent Chemotherapy in Treatment of Small Cell Lung Cancer with Brain Metastases

Abstract
Objective To evaluate the efficacy and the adverse reactions of Shenqifuzheng Injection combined with three - dimensional conformal radiationtherapy (3D - CRT ) and concurrent chemotherapy of Etoposide + Cisplatin in treatment of small cell lung cancer ( SCLC ) with brain metastases.Methods A total of 36 cases were randomized into observation group ( n = 19 ) and control group ( n = 17 ).The observation group received Shenqifuzheng Injection 250 ml/day from 1 d to 21 d within one treatment circle ( 28 d ), for 2 treatment circles.Meanwhile, both groups received 3D - CRT and chemotherapy of Etoposide + Cisplatin ( EP ) for 2 ～ 6 circles ( 28 d ) after a 3 - week interval.Efficacy and adverse effects were evaluated with long - term effects observed through a 2 - year follow - up.Results The observation group showed a relatively higher effective rate ( 89.4％ ) than the control group ( 82.3 ％ ), with no significant differences ( P ＞ 0.05 ); rate of Karnofsky score improvement with stableness was 84.2％ ( 16/19 ) in observation group and 52.9％ ( 9/17 ) in the control group, with significant differences between the two groups ( P ＜ 0.05 ); incidence rates of adverse effects including leucopoenia, thrombocytopenia, nausea and vomiting were lower in the observation group than in the control group ( P ＜ 0.05 ).No significant differences existed between 1 - year or 2 - year survival rate beteween the two groups ( P ＞0.05 ).Conclusion Shenqifuzheng Injection combined with 3D - CRT and concurrent chemotherapy can improve the quality of life among SCLC patients with brain metastases and soften the adverse effects of radiochemotherapy.关键词
