Relationship between MRI Manifestations and Prognosis among Long-Term Consciousness Disorder Patients with Severe Traumatic Brain Injury

Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between magnetic resonance imaging ( MRI ) manifestations and sober state among patients with severe traumatic brain injury ( TBI ) and long - term disturbance of consciousness.Methods Dato of MRI manifestations of 53 patients with long - term disturbance of consciousness caused hy severe TBI hospitalized at our department from 2003 to 2009 were retrospectively analyzed , with the prognosis factors of sober state summarized.Results A total of 22 patients out of the 53 cases ( 41.5％ ) studied retrived soberness after 6 months.MRI results showed that soberness rate was notably lower among patients with lesions in dorsal brain stem, bilateral thalamus, the corpus callosum, and the frontal lobes.The x2 test showed statistical significance ( P ＜0.05 ).Conclusion MRI manifestations in patients with traumatic brain injurie are closely related with sober prognosis six months later.Cranial MRI indicates that it is difficult for patients with lesions in dorsal brain stem , bilateral thalamus, the corpus callosum and the frontal lobes to regain soberness.关键词
