Expression and significance of Ep-CAM in oral lichen planus and oral squamous cell carcinoma.

Abstract
Objective: To study the expression of Ep-CAM in oral lichen planus (OLP) and oral squamous cell carcinoma,try to further elucidate the role of Ep-CAM in oral carcinogensis.Method: Ep-CAM expression was detected by immunohistochemistry in 10 cases of normal oral mucosa, 15 cases of OLP without erosion, 15 cases of OLP with erosion and 20 cases of squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).Result: Positive expression of Ep-CAM was detected in 2 / 15 (13.3 ％) cases of OLP without erosion,in 4 / 15 (16.7 ％) cases of OLP with erosion,in 14 / 20 (70 ％) cases of OSCC,and in none of normal mucosa.Conclusion: Ep-CAM can be act as a marker for malignant transformation in oral mucosa.关键词
