Abstract
Objective To explore the characteristics of insulin resistance ( IR ) and its relative factors in polycystic ovarian syndrome ( PCOS ) . Methods Clinical characteristics, endocrinal markers, and glucose metabolism indices including fasting plasma glucose ( FPG ) and fasting plasma insulin ( FINS ) of 80 PCOS patients ( 49 obesity and 31 non - obesity ) were retrospectively analyzed. Homeostasis model assessment - insulin resistance ( HOMA - IR ) and insulin sensitive index (ISI)were employed to assess insulin sensitivity. Results No significant differences were observed between the obese group and the non - obese group in the levels of testicular hormone ( T ), iuteotrophic: hormone ( LH ), serum follicle - stimulating hormone ( FSH ) and LH/FSH ( P ＞ 0.05 ) . Serum levels of FPG, FINS and HOMA - IR, ISI values in the obese group were significantly higher than those in the non - ohese group ( P ＜ 0.05 ) . Incidence rates of insulin resistance of the two groups were 86％( 42/49 ) and 52％ ( 16/31 ) respectively ( P ＜ 0.05 ) . Conclusion Degrees of IR tend to be more severe in obese patients than in their non - obese counterparts.关键词
