Abstract
Objective To explore perioperative care for elderly patients with incisional hernia of abdominal wall. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted to 42 elderly patients with incisional hernia of abdominal wall in the department of general surgery in our hospital. They were treated with tension-free repair using expanded polytetrafluoroethylene mesh combined with perioperative care. Results The quality of patients' life was significantly improved, showing satisfactory results. No recurrence could be found during the 1 - 36 months of the follow - up. Conclusion Active preoperative and postoperative care interventions are important measures to promote the recovery of elderly patients with incisional hernia of abdominal wall treated with tension- free repair as soon as possible, as well as to reduce postoperative complications and recurrence rate to improve their quality of life.关键词
