Expression and Clinical Significance of Snail mRNA in Breast Cancer

Abstract
Objective To observe the expression of Snail mRNA in hreast cancer and the relationship hetween Snail mRNA and clinicopathological features and to investigate its roles in the carcinogenesis and progression of breast cancer and its clinical application value.Methods The expression of Snail mRNA was detected by in situ hybridization ( ISH ) in breast carcinoma ( 70 cases ), intraductal breast carcinoma ( 30 cases ) and simplex breast hyperplasia ( 30 cases ).Results Among the 70 cases of breast cancer, the expression rate of Snail mRNA was 81.40％ , higher than the expression rate in intraductal breast carcinoma ( 46.7％ ) and simplex breast hyperplasia ( 23.3％ ), the difference was statistically significant ( X2 = 32.4, P ＜0.01 ).The expression rate of Snail mRNA in lymphatic metastasis group was 92.70％.but 65.5％ in no lymphatic metatasis group , and there was statistically significant difference between the two groups ( X2 = 8.29 , P ＜ 0.01 ).Snail mRNA expression was not correlated to age, tumor size and histopathological grade ( P ＞0.05 ).Conclusion The expression of Snail mRNA is closely related to the occurrence and development of breast carcinoma and lymphatic metastasis , and is thought as prognostic and metastatic biology markers of breast cancer.关键词
