Simulation of reinforcing construction of concrete core wall rock-fill dams

Abstract
For a core wall rock-fill dam under construction, based on the commercial FEM code ABAQUS, the subprograms of Duncan-Chang E-B and E-v models to reflect the nonlinear relations of the rock-fill body were developed to simulate the process of its reinforcing construction. The 3D simulations of the whole process of filing and water storage of the core wall rock-fill dam were conducted by means of three schemes. The results show that the construction quality of hole-making cutoff walls has a great effect on the deformation and stress of the cast-in-place cutoff walls. The construction quality of the hole-making cutoff walls should be greatly improved. The calculated results for the elastic modulus of the cutoff walls by use of the upper or lower limit values are close to the observed ones, indicating that the actual deformation can be rationally estimated based on the results using the upper or lower limit values. The above conclusions provide the basis for the evaluation of reinforcing construction effectiveness of the concrete core wall rock-fill dam and the optimization of its later monitoring schemes.关键词
