Abstract

A method of accelerated solvent extraction and high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) was developed for the determination of residue pentachlorophenol in leather. The leather samples were extracted using accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) with N-hexane, then enriched and filtrated. Pentachlorophenol (PCP) was eluted on a C18 column with acetonitrile and 0.5% acetic acid solution, which then were detected by diode array detection (DAD) at 214 nm. Qualitative and quantitative analysis was carried out by retention time of PCP and external standard method. The resuits show that the mass concentration of PCP was a linear range of 0.1~20 mg·g-1 with good correlation coefficients (r=0.999 8),the mean recoveries were 96.0%~99.7%, with the relative standard deviation were 0.74%~5.42%, and the detection limit of this method for PCP was 0.02 μg·g-1.
