Study on management model of high quality nursing care in neurology ward

Abstract
Objective To investigate the managenent model of high quality nursing care that meets the actual care needs in neurology ward. Methods In June 2010, the self-designed questionnaire was used to investigate 10 doctors and 18 nurses in the neurology ward in our hospital on the primary nursing-related issues, as well as the division of labor, work schedule, job responsibilities and performance evaluation. The nursing care hours of critically ill patients were determined by observation measurement method, and the nursing care hours of non-critically ill patients were self-recorded by nurses to determine the number of patients assigned to each nurse. The nurse working content and responsibilities were refined according to their ability to work and sense of responsibilities. The three-shift system was nm, and the nurses were arranged to work in morning shift and night shift. The nursing performance evaluation was assessed by the number of patients discharged, degree of severity, grade of nursing, quality of nursing, and patients'satisfaction. Results The rate of identifying with performing basic nursing duties in nursing staff was 59.3％. The average daily nursing care hours per critically ill patient required 534.0 min and per non-critically ill patient required 114. 2 min. Each nurse was responsible for 1 critically ill patient and 6-8 non-critically ill patients. Conclusion The implementation of all-round contract responsibility system in nursing staff in neurology ward was practicable. It can strengthen the management of high quality clinical nursing care. The administrator should implement appropriate care management programs according to the actual needs.关键词
