A Cluster-based Energy-Efficient Data Gathering Protocol for Wireless Sensor Networks*

Abstract
A cluster-based energy-efficient data gathering protocol (CEDGP)is proposed for data gathering in the large scale WSNs( Wireless Sensor Networks). Firstly, a node competes for becoming a clusterhead according to its residual energy. Furthermore,clusterhead transmits the data to sink node by multi-hop method. In order to improve the energy efficacy, a intra-cluster scheduling method is used to control the number of active nodes in a cluster. Sim-ulation results show that CEDGP significantly outperforms the traditional cluster-based data gathering protocols in terms of energy consumption and network lifetime.关键词
