Abstract
Objective To investigate the concentration change of maternal and umbilical serum adiponectin from women suffering from gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), and illustrate the role of adiponectin in pathogenesis of GDM. Methods GDM was diagnosed using 50 g glucose screening test followed by 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT). 16 GDM cases (group A) , 18 GIGT cases (group B) and 35 cases of normal pregnant women with normal glucose tolerance delivered in the same period (group C) were included in this study. The concentration of maternal and umbilical serum adiponectin was quantified by ELISA. Results Maternal serum adiponectin levels were significantly lower in group A than in group B and group C (P ＜ 0.01 ).There was no statistically significant difference in maternal serum adiponectin levels between group B and group C (P＞0.05). Group A (12.33 ±0.76) μg/mL, Group B (15.31 ±1.84) μg/mL, Group C (16.20±1.81) μg/mL. Umbilical serum adiponectin levels was significantly lower in group A than in group B and group C (P ＜ 0.01 ). There was no statistically significant difference in the umbilical serum acliponectin levels between between group B and group C (P＞ 0.05). Group A (33.86 ± 2.34) μg/mL, Group B (45.72 ± 1.69) μg/mL, Group C (46.91 ± 1.89) μg/mL Umbilical serum adiponectin levels was significantly higher than maternal ones in Group A (12.33 ± 0.76 μg/mL vs 33.86 ± 2.34 μg/mL, P ＜ 0.01), Group B (15.31 ± 1.84 μg/mL vs 45.72 ± 1.69 μg/mL, P ＜ 0.01), and Group C ( 16.20 ± 1.81 μg/mL vs 46.91 ± 1.89 μg/mL, P ＜ 0.01 ). Conclusions Maternal and umbilical serum adiponectin levels in GDM patients are decreased. Umbilical serum adiponectin levels are higher than maternal serum adiponectin levels.关键词
