Study of gemstone spectral imaging in diagnosis of gastric cancer

Abstract
Objective To investigate the role of gemstone spectral imaging (GSI) in preoperative gastric cancer staging. Methods GSI was performed in a total of 84 cases of gastric cancer diagnosed by preoperative biopsy. Data were analyzed by commercial software to calculate the ratio of iodine-based value. All these findings were prospectively analyzed and correlated with the clinicopathological findings. Results Thirty-seven in 84 cases of gastric cancer belonged to tubular adenocarcinoma, and 32 cases belonged to signet ring cell carcinoma. In the arterial phase, the ratio of iodinebased value was (0.2252±0.1321) and (0.2609±0.1025) respectively; in the portal venous phase, the ratio of iodine-based value was (0.4713±0.1498) and (0.5630±0.1757). There was statistically significant difference in the portal venous stage (P=0.02). The ratio of iodine-based value between cases with metastatic lymph nodes and those without metastatic lymph nodes in the gastric adenocareinoma group was significantly different in the arterial phase; while the ratio of iodine-based value between cases with metastatic lymph node metastasis and those without metastatic lymph nodes in the signet ring cell carcinoma group was significantly different both in the arterial and portal venous phases. Conclusions GSI can reflect the spectrum of different pathological types of gastric cancer; and it could be useful in identifying the status of lymph node metastasis, thereby improving preoperative staging accuracy.关键词
