Abstract
Objective Whether the trunk of the greater saphenous vein could be reserved in the treatment of varicoses, is to be discussed in our study. Methods All of the venous varicoses cases, who had been admitted in our department during Jan 2009 to Dec 2009, were persuaded to join the study. When uhrasonograph excluded the existence of sapheno-femoral reflux, and the diameter of the root of the vessel≤8 mm, a total of 63 cases(71 limbs) were obtained to enter the study; they were randomized into: ① the saphenous-reserved group (35 cases, 38 limbs) and ② the nonreserved group (28 cases, 33 limbs). In group 1, endo-venous laser ablation (EVLA) was employed. The Aberdeen score,operative time, rate of complication and 1-year-rate of recurrence were observed. Results The operative time in group 1 was less than that of group 2 (17.5±4.3 min vs 22.7±5.6 min,P＜0.01); the Aberdeen score, hospital stay and rate of main complications were similar in both groups. However, the rate of saphenous nerve injury was less often in group 1. No pulmonary embolism was seen in the study. Conclusions Saphenous-reserved EVLA is a safe, effective and minimally invasive treatment for chronic greater saphenous vein efficiency.关键词
