Abstract
Objective To compare ovulation induction effect of letrozole (LE) and clomiphene citrate (CC) combined with human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG). Methods 87 infertile women (117 cycles) who received ovulation induction treatment in Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of Taihe Hospital in a period from January 1,2008 to June 30, 2009 were selected and divided into two groups:LE treatment group and CC treatment group. The infertile women in the LE treatment group were given 5mg/d of LE for consecutive 5 days (starting from the third day of the menstrual cycle) and those in the CC treatment group were given 100 mg/d of CC for consecutive 5 days (also starting from the third day of the menstrual cycle). From the 8th day of menstrual cycle, all patients in the two groups were intramuscularly injected HMG and were monitored for ovarian follicular development and endometrial thickness by transvaginal ultrasonography. When diameter of matured leading follicle(s) reached to 20 mm and the urinary luteinizing hormone (LH) was positive,the patients in the two groups were injected intramuscularly human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG). Then all women were guided and let conduct sexual with her husband or received intrauterine artificil insemination (IUI). The total administration dose of HMG, number of matured follicles, endometrial thickness, ovulation rate, pregnancy rate and incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results The total administration dose of HMG, endometrial thickness, ovulation rate and pregnancy rate in LE treatment group were similar to those in CC treatment group ( all P ＞ 0.05 ), while the number of matured follicles was less than that in CC treatment group (P ＜ 0.05). Conclusion LE combined with HMG in ovulation induction treatment is more economic and safer than CC combined with HMG. The overall clinical effects in the two groups are similar to each other. That the advantages of LE combined with HMG in ovulation induction treatment for infertility women than CC combined with HMG are not still determined.关键词
