摘要

Abstract

Necessity and advantages of gas protection method during melting of magnesium alloy are presented. Application method, protecting effects, mechanism of protection and limitations of several kinds of traditional protective gases are reviewed, such as inert gases N2, CO2, SO2, BF3 and SF6. According to the fact that the most popular used gas SF6 is being forbidden due to its high greenhouse effect, several potential kinds of fluorine-containing protective gases ( HFC-134a,HFE7100, HFE7200 and Novec 612TM) are introduced. Present status and application prospect of these gases are discussed. It is pointed out that finding new kinds of gas to replace SF6 is a very pressing and important task. A reasonable research method is put forward and its development tendency in the future is discussed. The conception includes mixing production, calculous-reaction,and pulse huffing.
