Abstract
Objective To investigate effect of maternal body mass index (BMI) during pregnancy on birth weight of the neonate. Methods 90 pregnant women were included in this study. Age, BMI and blood glucose at parturition of the pregnant women and birth weight of their neonates were measured and detected, and correlation between maternal body mass index in parturition and birth weight of the neonate was analyzed. Results The mean blood glucose level of 90 pregnant women was 5.3 ± 1.2 mmol/L, their mean age was 26.2 ± 6.0 years, their BMI at parturition was 23.8 ± 3.9 kg/m2 , and mean birth weight of their neonates was 3 425.4 ± 1 433. 0g. There were positive correlations between birth weight of the neonates and maternal BMI or maternal age (r =0. 817, P =0. 000 and r =0. 228, P =0.033,respectively). Even there existed a linear correlation between maternal BMI at parturition and birth weight of the neonate ( y = 302.6, x =-3 775.0). Conclusion There is positive correlation between maternal BMI and birth weight of the neonate. Measurement of maternal BMI at parturition has some clinic values in predicting birth weight of the neonate.关键词
