Micro-pore Structure Characteristics and Its Influence on Gas Well Production Performance in the Northern Part of Sandstone Reservoir in Jingbian Gasfield

Abstract

There are some problems in the gas wells of He-8 and Shan-1 sandstone reservoirs in the northern part of Jingbian Gasfield, such as wellbore liquid loading and short period of stabilized production. By means of the SEM, casting slice and high pressure mercury intrusion, the sandstone samples were tested to analyze the characteristics of petrology and pore types. Then the relationships between the characteristics of micro-pore structure and gas well performance are studied, in which micro-pore structure are divided into 4 categories. The research shows that the pores are predominated by dissolved pore and intercrystal micro-pore, and the main pore-throat types consist of intercrystal micro-pores and dissolved pore-intercrystal micro-pores, in He-8 and Shah-1 reservoirs. The history of gas wells are significantly influenced by pore structure in three aspects. The pore permeability increases with increase of the average pore throat radius. The pore-throat distribution affects the characteristics of gas-water flow through porous medium and gas-water distribution and thus influences gas well performances. As the micropore structure has a very important impact on well operating patterns, it is advisable that the correct techniques for gas recovery and water draining, continuous producing and low producing pressure drop should be suitable for He8 and Shah-1 gas reservoirs.
