摘要

Abstract

The discrete element code EDEM was developed to simulate the axial mixing of particles with different size in rotary kiln in order to investigate the mixing mechanism. The number of contacts was introduced to track the progress of mixing process and the number of contacts between the different particles was taken as mixing index to analyze the degree of mixdeness. The results showed that the particle velocity was large in active layer, and the axial displacement of smaller particles was due to penetration of the smaller particles through the interval between larger particles.
