Clinical and electroencephalogram features of nonconvulsive status epilepticus in adults

Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical and electroencephalogram features of nonconvulsive status epilepticus (NCSE) in adults. Methods The clinical data of 7 NCSE patients were retrospective analyzed. Results Complex partial status epilepticus (CPSE) was identified in 6 patients and generalized nonconvulsive status epilepticus was seen in 1 case. The significant clinical presentations were disturbance of consciousness at different levels accompanied with or without clumsy, disorientation, automatism, mental and behavior disorder. Epileptic discharges were seen on electroencephalogram examinations in all patients, and the waveform of epileptic waves had relationship with clinical manifestation. Fine prognosis was induced after treatment according to therapeutic principle of status epilepticus. Conclusions The clinical manifestations are complex in NCSE patients. The electroencephalogram changes are significant, and it probably has some relativity with clinical symptoms and is helpful for diagnosis. Treatment in time will induce fine prognosis.关键词
