Abstract
Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the expression of p53, p21, p27, pl6 proteins and their prognostic significance in patients with oral squamous cell carcinoma. Methods: A retrospective evaluation from 110 patients with oral squmaous cell carcinoma, to whom at least 5 years follow-up were made after operation. The formalin fixed paraffin embedded specimens were examined by immunohistochemical method. Every section was scored according to the fraction of stained tumor cells and the staining intensity. The Kaplan-Meier test were performed to identify the relationship between the proteins expression level and prognosis of the patients. Stastical analyses were carried out with SAS 9.0 software, and significance was set at 5％ (P＜0.05). Results: The expression of p21 were proved to be an independent prognostic parameter in patients with oral squmaous cell carcinoma. But p53, p27, pi6 expressions showed no significance with prognosis. Conclusions: The expression level of p21 is an effective bio-marker and an independent prognostic parameter in oral squmaous cell carcinoma.关键词
